A handbook for facilitators and trainers.

This Handbook is designed for trainers and facilitators who have an interest in improving the facilitation skills. It is designed as part of a facilitation training package that helps the trainer bring real life scenes from the field into the classroom alongside the sessions suggested in the Handbook.

The training sessions in the Handbook have been effectively used with a wide range of audiences from all over Africa, including fieldworkers, extension workers, college teachers and managers working for the governments, NGOs or projects.

Practical ideas and tips about how to use and adapt the Handbook for different target groups are included in the Handbook. In development terms, facilitation may involve anything from supporting long-term and complex participatory processes involving multiple stakeholder groups to facilitating one-off meetings with small groups.

The focus of this Handbook is on the inner-circle; the facilitation of groups, and group processes in meetings.
